Palampur: In remembrance of Kargil War hero Martyr Captain Saurabh Kalia, Palampur MLA Ashish Butail paid heartfelt floral tributes at the statue located in Saurabh Van Vihar on Sunday. The event was marked by the presence of family members, local officials, and dignitaries who came together to honor this brave son of India.



During his speech, MLA Butail expressed that the ultimate sacrifice made by Captain Saurabh Kalia during the Kargil War will forever be etched in the hearts of Indians. He stated, “His martyrdom instills pride in every Indian and serves as an inspiration for future generations, embodying patriotism, bravery, and a profound sense of duty.” Butail highlighted the necessity of educating the youth about such sacrifices to encourage their meaningful contributions to the nation.



Captain Saurabh Kalia was among the first Indian soldiers to lay down his life during the Kargil War in 1999. His valor and sacrifice continue to motivate many, especially in his hometown of Palampur, where his legacy is held in high regard.


Present at the ceremony were Captain Kalia’s father, Dr. N.K. Kalia, and his brother Vaibhav Kalia. They were accompanied by Palampur Municipal Corporation Mayor Gopal Nag, Deputy Mayor Raj Kumar, Councillor Amit Manu Sharma, SDM Palampur Netra Meti, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Ashish Sharma, Tehsildar Sajan Bagga, DFO Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Forest Department officials, and other local dignitaries.


The attendees observed a moment of silence to honor the martyr. Floral wreaths were placed at his statue as a sign of respect. This tribute served as a poignant reminder of the nation's gratitude towards its martyrs and reinforced the notion that their legacy endures in the hearts of the people.
